Jeremiah Regan/Reagan, the son of Thomas Reagan and Margaret Sheehan is estimated to have been born about 1828 in County Cork, Ireland. He married Ellen Flynn and they had two children - Jeremiah and John Thomas. Jeremiah and Ellen are found in the 1865 New York State Census living in the Town of Skaneateles. The 1875 NYS census shows Ellen as a widow and working as a rag sorter, probably for the paper mill. The 1880 Federal Census shows Ellen working at the paper mill and her son Jerry employed by the teasel shop.
An article from the Skaneateles Free Press dated March 18, 1869 shows that Jeremiah died on March 12, 1869:
" JEREMIAH REAGAN - SUDDEN DEATH -
Jeremiah Reigan (sic) was found in an insensible condition in the road near his house on last Friday morning about half past 6 o'clock. Efforts were made for his recovery but he died in about half an hour after being found. He was employed as a cattle feeder in Earls Tallman's distillery and left that establishment for his home about 7 o'clock on Thursday evening and was not seen again until the next morning under the circumstances as described about. His death is supposed to have been caused by a fit."

WELCOME
Welcome to our blog about our family ancestry. Jim and John and I have been researching our family tree since the mid 1990's in hopes of finding our "homeland" in Ireland. But, we have hit the proverbial "brick wall" but have not given up hope. We knew that we were descended from Patrick Reagan / Regan/ O'Regan and Bridget Gilvie. Family stories tell us that Patrick was from County Cork, Ireland and Bridget was a native of County Mayo, Ireland and that Patrick had brothers Thomas and Jeremiah and sister Catherine. In my research, I found that there also was a brother Daniel, possibly the youngest and another sister Mary. I also found that their parents were Thomas Reagan /Regan/O'Regan and Margaret Sheehan. This was a big find for us because we had never been told of them. These are our Irish Immigrant Ancesters. They were all born in Ireland and some married in Ireland and came to America in the 1840's - 1850's to find a better life due to the Potato Famine in Ireland.
